I hope everyone has had a wonderful Summer out on the water.
For all but the hardiest of you (or folks with a wetsuit), the skis, wakeboards, towables, and personal watercraft have been put away for the cooler weather. There is still plenty to do on the lake in the Fall despite the competing priorities of college sports, apple festivals, pumpkin carving, etc. I encourage everyone to get out and enjoy the water. A well-timed fall colors excursion or afternoon fishing trip are my favorites this time of year.
Tips for an enjoyable cool weather trip:
- Wear clothing in layers that can easily be added or removed. Temperature shifts are more variable on the water this time of year.
- Bring a blanket to enjoy with your fall apple cider if you are on a nature excursion.
- Bring plenty of drinking water. It’s easy to forget this one with cooler temperatures, but staying hydrated is important.
- As the lake cools, so does the air generated by your speed. When planning your voyage, allow enough time to complete your trip at reduced speed. (Your passengers will thank you for this one!)
Hope to see you on the water soon!
